From Travel Palette to Studio Watercolor Palette

My original travel watercolor palettes after more than two decades of field sketching. For more than twenty-five years, my watercolor kit fit inside a waterproof travel palette. It worked beautifully for quick field sketches, but as my illustrations became more ambitious, my growing collection of pigments became increasingly difficult to organize. This year I finally built a permanent studio watercolor palette using two porcelain palettes, carefully arranging sixty pigments according to how I actually mix color rather than by the traditional rainbow.
