Summer Under the Stars 2025: The New-to-Me Movies, Days 10-17

Yikes. I looked at the calendar today and something clicked – TCM’s Summer Under the Stars celebration starts NEXT WEEK, and I still haven’t worked my way through covering last year’s new-to-me movies! Time for a marathon review session, y’all! Wish me luck – here goes . . . August 10: Clark Gable – They Met in Bombay (1941) In a nutshell, this romantic-adventure film features Gable and Rosalind Russell as two thieves (they met in Bombay, get it?) who fall in love with each other. I’m a big fan of both Gable and Russell, and Gable was appealing as always, but this one was not exactly my cup of tea. It was okay when they were at odds with each other, but once they fell in love, I just really didn’t much care anymore. And don’t get me started on Gable’s character – who’s posing as an Army captain (sergeant? major?) – getting involved in an actual battle with the Japanese! Pass.
