I was considering recruiting someone else to write this article, but the scheduling didn't quite work out.This is a detailed image of a log in the forest. Its bark is textured in spots and blurry in others, against a smudge of green and gray in the background.When choosing gear, manufacturer lenses can hold different properties beyond the obvious zoom level and size of aperture. For example, it could handle out-of-focus areas poorly, with casts of purple and green that are difficult to correct in editing.Other properties such as vignetting and distortion are easier to control on a computer, and they might even be desirable characteristics of a lens — I have lenses where I take advantage of their vignette around the edges and distortion at certain angles.Outside of photography, I'm practicing Skating in Central Park as performed by Bill Evans.
