Doctor Who Comics: The Eighth Doctor (Part 2)

Last time we checked in on the Doctor Who Magazine comics continuity, we took in the first half or so of the Eighth Doctor’s tenure in the comics. This was an era of long, ambitious story arcs which saw the comics giving the concurrently-running BBC Books novel line a run for its money; we left off with The Autonomy Bug, a three-parter whose last episode ran in issue 299 of the magazine. As I mentioned last time, that marked the end of an era in its own right for two reasons. Firstly, issue 300 of the magazine saw the comic switch to full-colour. With the comics taking advantage of the medium to present phantasmagoric visions which television budgets would struggle to execute, presenting such things in full colour was the logical next step in that – in fact, the rest of the magazine had been an all-colour presentation to begin with, so the comic running in black and white had been incongruous for a little bit.
