An EDC (Every Day Carry) camera, as they say. That was what I was hoping for from the device. And, sometimes, it worked wonderfully. While the Leica D-Lux 8 is also comparably compact, the X Half is noticeably smaller. Also important is the fixed 32mm equivalent prime lens. And unlike the D-Lux 8, no lens needs to extend or retract. Those small details can have an outside effect on the usability and pleasure of a camera. There are certainly some negatives about the camera, and I’ll discuss those in the future. But for today, I want to talk about the good things. Once I figured out the “trick” with the film grain, I was much more forgiving about the absolute technical image quality. I just wanted a small, fun snapshot camera.
