Tori Amos - Crucify

I don't remember the exact day I first heard Tori Amos. Sometime in 1992, I think. It's hard to explain the feeling of listening to her for the first time. It was the early '90s, and grunge and other loud music were taking over the musical landscape (much to my pleasure) but her music was completely different. For most of her songs, it was just her voice and a piano, and yet it had the same intensity and triggered the same feelings as all the other bands I started listening to more and more, which are often mentioned in this series of posts.What's fascinating is that everyone I met and became friends with over the next ten years or so was obsessed with her music, too. She really struck a chord with the culture at that time, and I consider her to be one of the most important artists of the 1990s and early 2000s.Sadly, I fell out of love with her new music in the late 2000s. I felt that she had lost some of her magic. She's still active today; her latest album was released in May 2026.…
