Instead, the local item connects through a proxy called a “shadow entity node”. This special kind of node represents a “Wikidata item’s representative” that lives locally. Think of it as a nation’s ambassador.Why did I make this feature?Because I simply wanted to use Wikidata items directly to “group” several local items together.This "backlinks index" feature automatically shows all local items that link to this local item. However, this backlink tracker doesn’t work if the item lives externally in Wikidata. So, to fix that, I introduced a “shadow entity node” that represents an external Wikidata item but lives locally. By using this shadow entity, we can treat those Wikidata items as local items, and the backlinks work as intended.For example, here’s a real use case.I made a local item: “Q27 dewekan”.
