It really does seem everything is going downhill

Four videos I watched recently seem to connect with aspects of this feeling of things, in general, not being that great in "the world" right now. Johnny Harris dives into why "Oligarchy is worse than you think" Benn Jordan claims "The Richest Country Is Pretty Mid Now" Report Of The Week (Reviewbrah) asks "Is there anything that isn't getting worse". And Rory Sutherland's 2026 predictions touches on there being two schools of economics; Austrian and Chicago, with Chicago being the one most adopted and causing everything to the reduced to a spreadsheet value. As we're at the center of our lives it's always easy to look around and claim this is the best/worst it has ever been. But a lot more people, from various viewpoints, are seeing indicators leaning toward one more than t'other.
