Scribed by Sandre the Giant Released: 23rd May 2006 We’ll probably get a lot more into the creation of Audioslave in a few years when I do the thirtieth (fuck sake) anniversary of their self titled debut, but the short version is three members of Rage Against the Machine, the vocalist from Soundgarden, come together to make the supergroup wet dream of every 90s alternative and grunge fan. Their debut track ‘Cochise’ is a track I still love to this day, but I’ve been honestly remiss in revisiting their back catalogue for a long time. You’ll see me make this point later on again, but how did we seem to just collectively forget about Audioslave? Their final record, 2006’s ‘Revelations’, was one I hadn’t been back to in a long time, and in the recent news that Soundgarden are working on creating one last record using the last Chris Cornell demo tapes, it feels oddly prescient to be going back to some of his older work.
