Getting Frustrated with Big Bang Theory

A quick one today, but it’s been on my mind and I wanted to get it down on paper, so to speak. We’ve been watching The Big Bang Theory for a while. I do enjoy the story-telling and the humour, but the repeated casual misogyny, sexism, racism etc really gets on my tit. Sometimes the characters are completely insufferable - they don’t seem to have matured in any meaningful way for the entire 7 seasons so far. Quite frankly, I’m not sure I can manage another 5! I watch it with eldest who has just turned 16. He’s a nerdy kid, so “gets” the personalities in this show and relates to some of the experiences they’ve been through (bullying, peer isolation and social awkwardness). While we take opportunities to discuss things that arise in the show, I do worry how much he thinks these characters are having normal adult friendships and relationships. Eldest doesn’t watch a lot of TV, so he hasn’t experienced a varied cultural diet. I’d like us to take a break from BBT and watch something that…
