Day 152: Worth It

2026-07-08Hello!This is my favorite photograph from the fireworks event on July 4. If I wasn't interested in telling a complete story of my experience at the display (and the heavy storm that followed), I would be publishing this photo by itself.I've already written about what happened that night in the previous three articles (I have a pattern of writing three photograph series). In short, I went to a firework display at night, watching from a shopping mall parking lot. Behind me, storm clouds flashed lightning and started rolling in quick to push out the heat dome that's been covering parts of the US. Wind picked up, and I waited out the heavy storm in the car before returning home safe.I get that the decision to host a big fireworks display might be irresponsible, given the fast storm that knocked out many power lines and caused damage on the roads was predicted in advance.
