Starting to Prepare the Arizona QTH

I regularly write weekly posts (“Weeknotes”) — a recap of what’s been going on — over on my general interest blog. There have been a few radio-related things lately so I thought I should put those updates here on my ham radio blog instead. I probably won’t write every week, but who knows? Anyway, here goes... First, a few older stories (Week 25) I received a new vanity call sign on June 19th. (Week 26) I was lazy and operated Field Day from home this year. (Week 27) My new QSL cards arrived! Planning the Arizona Shack Last fall, we bought a little place in Tucson, Arizona, where we plan to spend the winters. Yes, we’re going to be snowbirds! Of course, I need a shack down there so I’ve begun thinking about what kind of setup I want. Something relatively simple for HF. I’ll probably take my IC-7300 down there, but I’m hoping to do some portable (POTA, SOTA) operation too, so I’ve been trying to figure out which of the several good options is best for me. (I’m leaning toward the Icom…
