Herefordshire Week 341: Tuesday 7 – Monday 13 July 2026

Heatwave No. 3. Garden / Outdoor jobs. Pickwick Papers. Walton admin x2. “New” dentist. A kestrel. Scything has started Slow start on Tuesday. Hadn’t slept well in the middle of the night and it took me ages to wake up properly…. at 9am. To the gym for PT then home for lunch then back out to Belmont to return a library book and for a quick whizz around Lidl before returning home to get three large mayo jars of frozen plum gin underway (the main driver behind the Lidl trip), put the orchids into the sink for a soak, followed by some spider plants. Did some Walton admin emailing too. A new batch of Plum Gin underway Tea and scones in the shade of the log shed yew once P and D returned from Hay on Wye. Did a few garden jobs as the day cooled down including emptying the big water butt in the orchard – of the last of its water and the resident slug population. Did a load of watering during the evening including the big pond which had got really low. Spotted the ants are back in the lounge…
