2026 Anniversary Series 066: Necrophobic – Hrimthursum 0 ▲ The Killchain 1 day ago · Music · hide · 0 comments Scribed by Sandre the Giant Released: 22nd May 2006 When I wrote about Swedish blackened death metallers Necrophobic back in 2023 for the anniversary of their classic debut record ‘The Nocturnal Silence’ in 1993, I mentioned that I first got into them on their 2006 record, ‘Hrimthursum’, a record that appeared at the perfect time for my expanding music taste of that era, with its fluid songwriting, serpentine riffs and insatiably memorable songs. Well, thankfully the time has come to revisit that album too, as is the benefit of the AS. ‘Hrimthursum’ is now twenty years old, and I took to it not just because of good reviews at the time (I had never come across Necrophobic at all before this) but also I was in a phase of trying out albums based on artwork as well, and this one definitely hit that target as well. When I first started getting into black metal, as I do with all new genres that I dip my toes into, I often spend a lot of time looking backwards. Sometimes bands get missed out… No comments yet.
