Designing, producing, and selling PCBs and other components has never been more accessible. The fact people are teaching these old computers new tricks, and in some cases even replacing unobtainium components to keep the joy alive is awesome. Tindie was one of the online outlets that made this possible. I described it as Etsy for electronics enthusiasts, many of whom were retrocomputer tragics like me. I’ve bought a proverbial megagram of stuff from the site over the years. It replaced eBay, Amibay, and Gumtree as my “default” site for finding components before searching elsewhere. The site was easy to navigate, there were sellers from around the world, and their projects were fascinating. Sellers on Tindie got my Commodore Plus/4 working again, fixed a key on my Commodore 128, added memory to my Am386SX, gave my Apple IIe Platinum VGA and HDMI graphics, converted my CGA and EGA cards to VGA,… No comments yet.
