My experience with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (XC2) was very similar to the time I spent with the first game. Not so much in story or gameplay, but more in the way that I fell off of both games pretty hard a few hours into them. After a short time away I returned to find out that I’d stopped right before each game started to really take off. Both games then proceeded to set their hooks deep into me until the credits rolled and beyond. Spoilers ahead. The tutorials in XC2 are, by all accounts that I’ve seen, pretty abysmal. Dry, boring, and ultimately not very informative. The combat systems are fairly easy to grasp but are just not very well explained in game and I spent a lot of the opening hours of the game feeling that I was doing everything wrong.
