had a good long weekend - partner and i went to the beach! drove up to the netherlands and avoided roughly half of the current heatwave back home. hotel has AC, seaside has lots of wind. alas, it came from the east which meant unpredictable jellyfish. and it was strong enough to stir up tall strong waves even very close to the shore. so there wasn't much swimming but a lot of wading and a few "endurance" dips (try not to get bowled over). generally lots of being outside, 200% nature. there were seagulls playing in the humans' sand castles and crows playing pull-the-tail with the seagulls. there was lots of good food (weird tacos!) and many cute doggos in the beachfront restaurants. lots of sports-watching (our default hotel activity) - wimbledon, world cup, tour de france, some rugby even? we had fun trying to guess the rules. oh, i need to update the wishlist post - we did arrive in a magic/crystal shop where i finally got those silver rings (one with rose quartz, one with clear…
