Hey there, Remember when I said I started learning how to crochet? Well, after 10 days of practice I can proudly say I finished my first project: a Kindle cover! (Side note: I originally wrote that post on July 10, but I'm only editing/finishing it now.) It's imperfect; a bit wonky, a bit too tight and missing the finishing touch but after 2h30 of crochet last night, there it was. My Kindle fits nicely in it and that's all that matters for now! As it turns out, the yarn type & quality really does matter. I went to a local yarn shop yesterday, talked to the saleswoman who gave me some useful tips and I left with 4 balls of yarn, one of which was 60% cotton and 40% acrylic. Boy the feeling is very different than the 100% acrylic yarn, which I had until now. Much better to manipulate! I'm feeling super pumped to have started this hobby which is relaxing, challenging, creative and productive - in the sense that you can end up with real useful products!
