Walking in the London Heatwave 0 ▲ the lost byway 1 hour ago · Life · hide · 0 comments As temperatures soar across Britain I went looking for cool spots in my part of East London. After abandoning the extreme heat of the Tube I sought refuge in the London Olympic Park walking beside the River Lea before walking along the peaceful Lea Navigation past the canal boats. Just being close to water is cooling in a London summer. Millfields in Clapton provided an escape from the London heatwave in the cool shade of the trees. Often at this point I head up through Clapton and Stoke Newington to Highbury but I was keen to avoid transit home on air-fryer public transport. So, I crossed back over the canal to Leyton Marsh and around the Waterworks to the wonderful Marsh Lane Fields in Leyton. This is a great London summer walk that I’ve been doing for 20 years.
