I see the tree vividly in my mind, and remember tracking it as the seasons changed – watching out for the first blossom, followed by the maturity of the leaves, then again by their browning as summer became autumn and autumn became winter. I saw the seasons while I lived them.In the moment I didn't think anything of the allure of the tree – why did the tree matter so much to me? Was it because there was only one tree that my attention focused on it? I did look far out toward the hills where there were many trees, but those were harder to see – my impression was characterised by colour and distance; close study was difficult.As time passes, I study Nature with greater intention: the changes in the seasons, the colours at sunset, the way the fog changes how I see the hills, all fascinate me.
