Chrysler Trylons

Chrysler Trylons – New York, New York I saw this picture in my New York City library and, after converting it to black and white, found it interesting enough to post. I like the pointy metal-and-glass structure and how it is surrounded by typical boxy buildings. It offers a nice contrast. The challenge was identifying the structure. Since it was near my other Chrysler Building images, I figured it was nearby. Using Google Street View, I found it, mostly hidden behind a large bus. Except that there was no building name on the map. I then asked ChatGPT about the pointy low-slung building next to the Chrysler Building, and it identified it as the Chrysler Trylons. Then a quick Google image search confirmed it. It took a few steps, but it was relatively easy with the latest technologies. The Chrysler Trylons was designed by famed architect Philip Johnson and was meant to echo the pointy design of the iconic building next door. Apparently, the current owner is not thrilled with this design…
