I wasn’t expecting quite so dramatic a shift, but it makes perfect sense for Anthropic to use its acquisition as a high-profile engineering success story–which doesn’t detract from the achievement (and I’m doing similar things on much smaller projects myself, so I know it works), but should be noted. It also doesn’t surprise me in the least that Jarred caught Claude blatantly lying about implementation details–stubbing out functions to fake compilation, then papering over them with verbose comments. I’ve never had that issue with Codex, but I’ve had it several times with Anthropic models, and that is why, ironically, I don’t trust them for coding. Also, I can’t even begin to estimate how much that all cost in tokens at their current rates…
