Bye bye discs

As consumer preferences and the broader entertainment industry continue to shift away from physical discs to digital, physical game disc production for all new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will be discontinued starting January 2028. This has been announced by PlayStation a few days ago. The gaming industry as we know it is changing a lot. It's shaping its future based on a lot of factors but what we want to have is something that was good for the late '90s early '00s. Don't get me wrong. I understand that decisions like these have a great impact on a lot of stuff. And would be too much easy to say that I've been buying digital only since the PS4 era, but I think that every one will move into this direction eventually. I think the shift to fully digital is a natural progression. If one company hadn't done it, another would have.
