Don't Believe the Type

I’m not a typewriter geek in the least, but having grown up using my mom’s typewriter and, later, in middle school, an electric typewriter, I can certainly understand how people enjoy typewriters as a hobby to obsess over. And like any tactile hobby, it’s best to have a nearby physical brick-and-mortar store nearby, one that allows you to try typewriters to see which have the desired feel to them. Presumably, such a shop also does repairs. I’m not sure how many of the typewriter shops on this early COVID-era list still exist, but there have to be at least a handful that remain, clacking away and doing their thing. It occurred to me that, even moreso than typewriter fanatics, there are scores of people obsessed with computer keyboards, especially when you get into mechanical and gaming keyboards. Where are all the computer keyboard shops? I’m obviously not the first person to ask this and, indeed, there’s a whole keyboard store map, but from what I can tell, these are all manufacturers…
