Apple has leaned on their stance on user privacy pretty consistently for the past 20 years, especially under Tim Cook’s leadership. That’s why I’m a bit surprised they haven’t fixed a vulnerability in their “Hide My Email” service available through iCloud+. For those not familiar, “Hide My Email” and similar services obscure the user’s email address with a random string of characters or non-sensical combination of words. This allows folks to set up email subscriptions to newsletters and the like without giving out their real email address.
