I've been pretty lucky with my epilepsy diagnosis; it was rough at the beginning with many seizures until my medication helped balance things but other than when I forget to take my meds, my seizures are under control. I subscribe to the /r/Epilepsy subreddit and every now and then I chime in on people's questions, or offer support. More often than not the posts are negative in nature, usually in the form of frustration with the diagnosis. But this morning, I found this post: Epilepsy Has Been a Blessing It's very refreshing to read someone's positive experiences. Especially when you read something like: But epilepsy made me realize how beautiful life is. Because I couldn’t drive I’d ride my bike and the feeling of the breeze and nature around me was beautiful. The sun against my skin as I coast through the wind is refreshing and the smell of nature makes me feel alive. I got to experience so much of what we’ve been enabled to ignore.
