Re: Someone Stop Me, I'm Thinking About Floor Desking

I was just having a quick browse of the recent blogs feed and saw Chloe's post on wanting to switch to floor desking. I had other plans for writing today, but as I was just musing on this very subject yesterday, it seemed more prudent to respond to this. So I live in a 16th century cottage with unusual windows upstairs. As the rooms are largely in the roof and we don't have dormers, they are positioned quite low on the wall, less than a foot off the floor. This is very characterful, but it has a slight downside. When you're standing or sitting in the room and look outside, you look down onto the front garden and the road, instead of our pretty garden and the paddocks opposite. This is enhanced by the fact the wall tilts slightly down, as period cottages so often do. It also means the room doesn't get as bright as ones with modern windows.
