I am not against them, I am simply indifferent to them; and I have no strong opinions on them because I never understood them. It seems everyone is writing ‘weeknotes’ lately, and I once considered trying my hand at it as well. Instead of writing anything I soon found myself introspecting what it was about ‘weeknotes’ that kept making me feel averse to the idea. I think Maira Martins – whose interesting blog I recently stumbled upon – offers three good arguments for dispensing with her ‘weeknotes’. I think they apply just as well to me. First, ‘weeknotes’ replicate a journal. I write my personal diary fairly regularly and find ‘weeknotes’ to be a more private affair than anything I care to share online. Second, according to Maira, ‘weeknotes’ make for an ‘excuse to not write other posts’. I will defer to her judgement on this because I have never tried writing these.
