YouTube “experts” are keen on telling folks with a low number of subscribers what they need to do to increase visibility on their channel. This advice is mostly unsolicited in an effort for the monetization of their quality improvement service. The two suggestions I hear the most are 1. I need to flash the words of what I’m saying up on the screen. I don’t do this because I’m trying to bring viewers with me outdoors through storm chasing and hiking. They don’t need flash cards to follow along. Item #2 is that my intro sequence is too long. If you’ve been following along for a little while you may have noticed I’ve been shortening the opening sequence. I’m not going to do that anymore. Some of the most memorable moments of television from days gone by is the opening sequence, think “Hawaii Five-O” or “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” or even “Growing Pains”.
