You look up from your bed of grass flowers, opening your eyes to see the layers of branches grown by the trees in the grove that surrounds you. The blue sky peeks through the gaps between the leaves. The sunlight that shines through and onto the leaves and branches leaves you with the feeling that, right now, today is both a new day and an aging day. Is it morning or evening? The air is warm, heavy; there is no relief from the heat except for the distraction that comes from your wandering mind. Are you sitting at a table, or are you alone, entranced by the sky and Day while you gaze into the sky and take notes of what you see: a forest both close and far away at once, leaves so high no amount of jumping would let you reach them. Can you climb trees? The dark green tree reminds me a little bit of one at home, but I am afar. Or am I? The sounds and sights from next to me are grounding: I am here, with Nature, and friends. An imprint of the light of a new, old day stays with me.
