It’s fast-paced, well-written, and grounded in realistic scenarios. The setting works. The characters work. The whole thing works. My one real complaint is the ending, which felt a little Deus Ex Machina — a little too tidy and hopeful given everything that came before it. With humanity, progress is always messy and weird in hindsight. The ending didn’t ruin the book, but it did feel slightly out of step with the rest of it. That said, if you’re interested in science fiction that seriously grapples with what’s possible in our world — this one is absolutely worth your time.
