Is this a common thought, or perhaps tied to something regional or cultural? I recall having this thought as early as 13 and have had this thought steadily through now, just a year or two from being 30 years old. When I first mentioned it in the presence of my mother, she paused for a moment and then remarked that my father mentioned the same thing nearly 25 years ago, far before I was born. I asked around while writing this and found that, of the 10 people I asked, all 10 either said something similar or at least thought it. It may not have been 30 exactly, but most of the men in my network have thought the same thing, and no one provided any specific reasons.
