Scribed by Sandre the Giant Released: 15th May 2006 Until just this week, I had no idea just when I got into British hardcore/metalcore/whatever they are now heroes Architects, because I have had their debut and a matching shirt for as far back as I can remember. But apparently they may have been the first support on the Sikth/Dead Man in Reno tour I literally just discussed in my last piece, which I have almost no memory of. But it does explain why I own these things. Anyway, the band have obviously changed a huge deal since their 2006 debut record ‘Nightmares’, but it is a record that still showcases a sound of a time and place better than a lot of them from this time. Twenty years on, it sounds like a totally different band but Architects killed it on ‘Nightmares’. Not to be outdone by the boom of North American metalcore and mathcore bands, Architects’ debut was very much along the lines of the Dillinger Escape Plan or Botch, but with an innate sense of the hook.
