Life Yes, it was hot. I caught up with old Fridayers in Soho Square on Tuesday for a pleasant if prematurely curtailed evening. Everyone seemed to be in fairly fine fettle, general workplace malaise notwithstanding. We went to see Empire of the Sun on Wednesday evening with Lou, which was an absolute mission of travel, cat, and children management. On the world’s sweatiest bus to the gig, through parts of town I’ve never seen before (and never wish to see again) I confess there was a moment when I allowed myself to believe that we’d have been better off staying in. But in the end it was of course totally excellent, and a reminder that we need to do stuff like that in spite of the logistics. Rach looked after the kids for the evening and we stayed over at theirs after the gig. In the morning we endured a power of passive aggressive energy, but I think it was largely pre-existing rather than as a result of our presence.
