Media Diet: May and June 2026

A quick look at the movies, television shows, music, and books that have captured my attention over the past two months. The Secret Agent The film is gorgeously shot, beautifully paced, superbly well-acted, and the sound design is impeccable. The story was a little lackluster for me, but that didn’t take away from just how exquisite this movie is technically, and how well crafted the entire production is. While it wasn’t the most transfixing plot, it was engaging enough that everything else shone. The Great British Bake Off, Season 16 Another wonderful season full of endearing contestants and a well-deserving winner. This show continues to bring warmth to cold evenings by just how full of heart it is. The seasons all blur together, but the heartwarming sensation lingers. Dream Count, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie There is something in common with all of Adichie’s writing, and that is a remarkable deftness with the language that makes whatever you’re reading feel beautiful.
