Canada Day Sent Me to the Emergency Room 0 ▲ James Zhan in real life. 1 hour ago · Life · hide · 0 comments I published “Thank You, Canada” yesterday morning, on Canada Day, listing a bunch of things I appreciate Canada for, and the first thing on the list was universal healthcare. Well, 6 hours later—thanks to the forces unbeknownst to us—I certainly put this Canadian perk to the test as I found myself and my wife stumbling our way to the emergency room (my first time) at a hospital1 and getting X-Ray for me, while lamenting over missing our favourite Sticky Asian Ribs dinner we were going to make. I stubbed my baby toe so hard that it turned colour within an hour. X-Ray showed that it apparently has a tiny crack. As I limped out of the hospital with my baby toe buddy-taped, I checked my watch: less than 2 hours since we first arrived. And of course, the visit cost us nothing. Gotta love universal healthcare. | Reply via email. Subscribe to my blog via email or RSS feed. I would have gone to a walk-in clinic but most were closed on Canada Day.↩ No comments yet.
