It was a flying visit to Ayureki today. This is Iceland's fifth biggest conurbation with the country's second biggest hospital. Ayureki is on the northern coast of Iceland which makes it a 5 hours drive to the capital. There's seasonal flights here from the UK by easyJet (boo! hiss!) There was no darkness last night - we're in the land of midnight sun here. It'll be the same tonight and tomorrow. We had a very lazy morning, sitting around reading, drinking tea and watching the town from deck 8. This afternoon we went on a coach trip. This was supposed to be 'leisurely' - maybe if you're fit! We first went to the Goófoss Waterfall which was spectacular but in 45 minutes (including walking to & from the coach ) it was difficult to get a real feel for it. Then we were whisked to the Botanic Gardens, which were lovely, but it would have been nice to sit and relax in them instead of having to trot back to the coach. Of course, we missed lunch, but had some room service grub delivered soon…
