I waited for many years before going on a photography workshop which is being organized in Venice: it’s Om’s images, there, that showed me what photography can do in that city. His work has pulled me across the ocean and so later this year I’ll have a chance to see Venice through my own eyes, while simultaneously being inspired by his own representation of the city. Om has/had his own very distinctive style. I’m not him but the image at the top of this post is an homage to him, his sense of minimalism through my own approach to street photography. Throughout the day when I was out looking to make a homage photo, tributes to him from his colleagues, friends, photographers, and readers reverberated through my mind.
