May-June ’26 Media

Not much media consumption these last few months…. Recommended Nothing Maybe Chimpanzee Politics: Power and Sex Among Apes — Fascinating book covering what the title says. A History of Japan by Kenneth Henshall — I think intro history books should be short-ish, not showstoppers, and this fits. Worth reading if you have an interest. The ‘Sharpe’ series (BBC) — This is ~2 movies a year for several years, starring Sean Bean in the mid-90s. Never read the books, but they are supposed to be good. Only seen a few but planning on watching the rest (on Tubi). Also has some “before they were famous” cameos…. In general these are fine, although at least once I watched it, turned it off then hours later went “Wait, the big reveal makes no sense when ….” Star Trek: First Contact — Watched this again to get the taste of ST:Insurrection out of my mouth. I kind of want to re-watch TNG and/or DS9. I mean, not enough to spring for Paramount …. Maybe Not Passengers — Passable. Meh. An interesting…
