Everywhere I go I see people censoring words that don't need to be. I get viscerally mad when I see or hear someone unironically say "unalive" instead of kill. It's happening in private discord servers too it's not just on the wider internet that's policed by 'the algorithm' so saying it's for reach or engagement isn't even a valid excuse. There are people who even say this stuff in person, with their own mouths. You can say rape! You can say kill and die and death and suicide! These aren't evil words, they aren't evil concepts, they don't need to be whispered or written like r*pe and k*ll. Youtube's auto-generated subtitles censor swear words as [__] despite the audio making no effort to censor it. This is an accessibility issue, it prevents those hard of hearing of understanding the original audio.
