As a parent I’ve come to learn that the transition from the final two weeks of the school year to the weird bumpy start to summer vacation is always chaos. New York chooses to time this at the end of the month, which always leads right into a weird partial first week of July, too. It’s a humbling time even if you think you’ve got it all figured out. Add a stomach bug to the mix (for two kids, plus yourself) and it officially becomes hard mode. Because the month was packed. Almost all of it good, too. I need to write things down sometimes to remind myself exactly how much good there was. It started with our Toco Design Rally art show, Side Quest, right in the center of the Ithaca Commons! I still can’t believe how well that turned out, with it coming together perfectly at the last minute.
