Just read Andrey Kurkov, The Silver Bone, trans. Boris Dralyuk (HarperCollins, 2024). This is the first of Kurkov’s Kyiv Mysteries, and I might be hooked. It’s set in the late winter and early spring of 1919, a perilous time to be alive in Kyiv and a wacky setting for a detective novel.
