The Daggerheart Core Book lists a bunch of GM moves, but in the stress of combat, it’s easy to fall back on the Fear moves listed in the environment and adversary stat blocks, or on the “spotlight an adversary,” “mark a stress,” and “clear a condition” moves. I think some of the other moves can be really spicy and make combat a lot more meaningful and memorable. If you don’t play Daggerheart, read on anyway because you can do a lot of these things in any combat. Below, I’ve divided the book’s moves into three categories: softer, moderate, and harder, and given examples. I tend to use softer moves on fail with Hope, moderate moves succeed with Fear, and harder moves on fail with Fear. In play, I also tend to make softer and moderate moves Fear-neutral.
