OWASP Global AppSec EU 2026 in Vienna

It took a long time this year but I finally made it to a conference! Last week OWASP organised the OWASP Global AppSec EU 2026 in Vienna. My wife had convinced me and so off we went to the Austria Center to learn what’s new in application security! A little disclaimer: I’m a software engineer and not a security engineer, so many of the topics discussed at the event were somehow on my radar but more like “I read it in the news”. All of a sudden I was in a room with tons of people who actively work on these issues and … I obviously learnt a ton and had lots of fun! AI everywhere! As was to be expected, a large number of talks at least touched AI topics. Both keynotes also focused on the new landscape. first from a developer’s point of view and how especially code reviewing is suffering from the flood of produced code and then also when seen from a researcher’s point of view.
