When Thimbleweed Park was announced, it made no attempts to hide its intention to hitchhike on the nostalgic feelings adventure gamers have for a pixelated crosshair and the SCUMM verbs. As soon as you start playing Lucy Dreaming, that same familiar feeling will be reawakened. See what I did there, as Lucy has to dream and awaken and dream some more in order to work through puzzle chains? Took it too far? Okay then how about this: Lucy Dreaming is as classic as a classic adventure game can get: pixels check crosshair check; SCUMM-esque action picks check; an unnecessary large amount of references to older games double check. Is this a dream worth having (again) though? After finishing the game, I still can’t fully answer that question. Mechanically speaking, Lucy Dreaming plays it safe and for 99.9% taps into your nostalgia for Monkey et al.
