All the way into my early forties I was a pretty athletic, fit person. Most of my exercise came from cycling, primarily mountain biking. I had a network of single track directly across from my house for training and then Saturday was typically a big group ride somewhere. Then real life sort of set in. Work that commanded more of my time, family obligations etc. That meant less riding time and more sitting time. That's one of the dangers of an IT job. While I tried to exercise, it was never very consistent. Well, now I've made it a priority again. I'm at the gym lifting four days a week and cycling three days a week for some cardio. Not big miles, maybe 10 to 16 depending on how I feel. Here's what I've noticed. My posture is better. My back doesn't hurt (as much) when I bend over to pick stuff up. I feel stronger. Even my body looks a little better. I've lost a few pounds. I'm sleeping way better and not taking any of my occasional afternoon siestas. My mental outlook is better and…
