The first photograph of my new series From the Bus. Mortar oozes from century old brickwork in the alleyway behind the Fillmore. My breakfast was sliced strawberries, plums, and oranges, topped with yoghurt and granola, and then a sprinkle of salted, mixed nuts (from my private selection). The Fillmore dynasty continued in Detroit with this extravagant, Rennaisance Revival theatre taking the name from its San Franciscan cousin. This room looks nothing like a Fillmore as we know it, but you can see the attempt was made with signature Fillmore chandeliers hanging in front of the murals - they almost look like they are painted objects in this photo. We were here a couple of years earlier supporting The National so I won’t dive into any details about the building save that the room is overwhelmingly beautiful.
