The SNES (or Super Nintendo Entertainment System for short) has such a massive selection of RPGs that it’s hard to keep track of them - and that’s speaking just for the popular games. There are dozens upon dozens of hidden RPG gems on the system that I hope to work my way through and occasionally write about when one really strikes me. This is one of those gems. Back in the early 90s, a company by the name of Quintet developed quite a few games for the SNES, one of them being Soul Blazer. Released in 1992, Soul Blazer was the start of an unofficial trilogy of games, with Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma following it in 1993 and 1995 respectively. While each is different in its own ways, they all share similarities, most notably being action RPGs with dark stories that focus on resurrecting an empty and desolate world.
