Review by Sandre the Giant Released: 5th June 2026 Connecticut prog/technical death metal band Xenosis have been plugging away on the underground for almost 16 years now, releasing a number of impressive death metal records and building a foundation to finally break out of that space and into a bigger arena. Well, their new record ‘Hermetic Transmutation’ might finally give them that chance, coming out through Transcending Obscurity and following their tremendous 2021 record ‘Parallel Existence’. That was a truly brilliant piece of progressive death metal, and so I have high hopes for this new one. If you play progressive, technical death metal with any hint of weirdness about you, you couldn’t find a better label than TO to promote it, but Xenosis have done themselves a real favour on ‘Hermetic Transmutation’ anyway; it is technical without the ‘tech death’, the progressive, adventurous streak is huge and the songwriting skills are honed to perfection.
