I Like Art That Doesn’t Sell 0 ▲ greg.org 1 hour ago · Art · 0 comments Sometimes I worry I just look too much at auctions, and that my blog is just filling up with free spon for luxury goods from big artists showing at megagalleries. And then there’s now, when I checked the tabs I had opened for the things that looked interesting at Sotheby’s London yesterday, and literally none of it sold. People really are leaving the good stuff behind these days: Passed: Jim Hodges, A Passing Gate (for Meredith), 2009, gold leaf on screenprint, each sheet 30 x 20 in., ed. 20 unique variants, did not sell at Sotheby’s yesterday Gotta admit, I’d mostly watched this Jim Hodges edition on paper because unlike the other 19 in the edition, this one has been for sale so much. It’s one of those see-it-in-person situations, because it’s actually in a corner-mounted shadowbox. It’s got the gold you want from a Hodges. Maybe it holds the corner until you get a spider web.
